Paris is known as La Ville-Lumière (referring both to its having been a center of ideas during the Age of Enlightenment, and its early adoption of street lighting), but it also loves it’s ladies. Here are a few distinctly Parisian grand dames I’ve seen around town–chignons, pressed powder, fur, gloves, giant sunglasses, emphatic gestures–and some vintage footage of a few of the more famous expats from Greta Schiller’s documentary Paris Was A Woman. More grand dames here (scroll to bottom).

  1. Summer says:

Oh, I know that corner that Noria stands on and I SO WISH I was in Paris with you two. I know that you would know THE BEST place to get some food. C’est formidable!

  2. kim says:

Hey Lady! We’d surely be feeding you all the unpasteurized cheese a pregnant lady can gobble up! My favorite food neighborhood these days is Belleville, for the place I mentioned to you I think–Le Baratin–but also a wine cave of one of the founders I haven’t tried, Chapeau Melon. Will report. Meantime, thinking of you.
