All day the song Coney Island Steeplechase was rolling through my head, which was appropriate I suppose, as Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson were king and queen of the mermaid parade this year. The degree to which I appreciate being in a 100 % New York freakshow cannot be overestimated.  Would you like to go on the Coney Island Steeple, go and have a good time? We’ll take the subway right down to King’s Highway, gonna have a good time…Coney Island! Coney Island!
