~swan lake~

May 10th, 2009

Watching your honey rescue a dragonfly from an untimely death and blow on its wings to dry them is a very good thing when your head is swirling with seventy job applications spanning six countries completed in three days, with no end in sight.

At the lake we met a Swiss grandma who asked Ali about the cygnets as though he was their agent: how many are there? seven. no, seven? yes, it’s true. when were they born? a day or so ago. and they live around here? yes, the have a house in those trees. seven? so many?

We had Cassis sorbet. Alfonso gave me a magic blue crab claw, which now holds a swan feather and sits on my desk. And so, the waiting continues. The bad jokes continue:
Kim: Three weeks from today we will live in a new country.
Alfonso: I wonder which one? I wonder if we’ll have a bathroom?
Kim: Yes, with purchase of small fries.
But also, swans.

Look at those little fuzz muffins! Amy and I saw baby seals this weekend. We should have a cuteness competition.

even one such as i can appreciate the swans…… how can they not be a sign of good things to come?

  3. Noria says:

Seven silver cygnets swim silently sea–uh, Swiss-ward?

I’m with Drew: the swans are a blessing.

I am smitten with the swans. What happened that I became such a bird person? Or how is it that I never noticed that I always have been a bird person?

I’m full of impatience to know the job outcome too but it’s got to pale in comparison to what you guys are feeling right now. It’s hard to be between chapters.

Habib–the second we land in any damn country consider yourself called to a cuteness smackdown!

and yes, N and D, I hope you and my crabby intuition are right…
