We made a short stop in Munich, to visit Alfonso’s old friend and check out the town: Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt, even a little Dirndl shopping.

My favorite part was the afternoon spent in the Englischer Garten. It is larger than Central Park (3.7km), opened in 1792, and features the landscaping style made famous by Lancelot “Capability” Brown. It is also known for having an abundance of naked sunbathers (see: Hirschau meadow).

We took a paddle boat out on Kleinhesseloher See, and watched the surfers of Eisbach (ice brook), rooting for the one wetsuitless underdog.

Then we caught the S7 home to Pullach.
