~nyc day fifteen: houdini~

December 30th, 2010

We walked through Morningside Park to the last address of Erik Weisz, son of a rabbi, immigrant, vaudevillian, escapologist, anti-Spiritualist, Harry Houdini–a brownstone at 278 W. 113th. We then headed down to the Houdini show at the Jewish Museum, a Christmas tradition begun with a fantastic show on Sarah Bernhardt. A picture of the two is below, as well as some library of Congress footage of a straight jacket escape dangling in the sky of NYC.
