Above is the Terrace Bridge Arcade, with Minton tiles and a man (and small choir) singing Amazing Grace. Below are the sandstone details of Terrace Bridge by Jacob Wrey Mould. Mould was reportedly brilliant, erratic, grandiose, not exactly loved by all, but besides all the original decorative details that make the park so enchanting, he is also responsible for The Ladies Pavilion, and so is close to my heart.
Above are two photographs made by Victor Prevost in 1862, of Bethesda Terrace in construction, and it’s proud (unidentified) co-architect, Jacob Wrey Mould (from the NYPL digital collection).
