~ain’t that just like me~

In Bowie’s almost unbearably haunting last video, a man confronts his death and an artist frantically creates until called to the tomb. This morning I remembered where I’d seen the artist’s costume before: the program for the 1976 Isolar tour. That year saw the launch of Station to Station, the premiere of The Man Who Fell to Earth and the recording of The Idiot and Low. It was not his most emotionally grounded time (to understate it), but arguably his most artistically charged, and this nod to the continuum of creative spirit suggests that the artist dies, but through the work, like Lazarus, rises again.
